Since I have not been active in the field of electronics for many years there are only a few tools left my from previous activity. That also includes my knowledge about transistors and other parts which I really need to refresh.
Beside a voltmeter and an analog electric soldering iron, which requires new bits, no other tools are available.
Rigol 1054Z
After some research I decided to get hands on a new oscilloscope and finally chose the Rigol 1054Z. It has four channel which accordingly to the service manual we might need to measure the function of the Audio-CD decoder panel.
In summary I am quite happy with the item except the menu controller is fuzzy to use and does no detention and changes the selection when you click it. When you are deep at work and have only one hand free this can be very annoying. However, the price and features are great, it is even possible to decode I2C which I surely need for further projects.
Peaktech 6225A
For experiments and single PCB testing I got two lab power supplies. A lot of PCBs requires two voltages as well as positive and negative voltages. The range up to 30V and a maximum of 5A is enough to do the job.
Electronic components
In order to be able to do some experiments a basic set of electronic components is needed. A set of capacitors, resistors and transistors are needed to learn and probably replace parts of the circuits. I order a lot of components to be able to do some prototyping.
Workplace
Finally a workplace has to be prepared in my office where I can keep all those things. That includes a bunch of boxes and shelfs.
