CD spare parts and where to find them

To be able to locate the defect on the CD-Player I do need some spare parts. Right now the error could be somewhere at the CDM2 mechanics/controller board or at the decoder panel. I do not want to disassemble one of my other two devices for testing purposes, thus I have done some research in which CD-Player from Philips or others the same mechanics and controllers are included. I came up with the following list (which might be extended when I figure out something new). Be careful that some devices where equipped with  different CD mechanics during their life-span. Some devices are ultra rare like the Estonia LP-001S which was produced for the Russian market.

Best choice for sure is the Philips 150 series or maybe the Marantz CD45. In this case you get both, the CD mechanics and a similar decoder unit as spare parts. The decoder unit looks a little bit different but has all ICs on board and in the worst case it can be used with some modifications. You can find those items on eBay or local garage sales. I’ve got two CD-150 on eBay with prices between 30€-60€ and I am now waiting until they arrive. The plan for the next step is to check if they are working and try to connect my CDM2 to check if controller and mechanics are working. What you for sure need to repair this legend is patience…
