Haven’t updated the site for a while since I was busy with many other things. However, although the cassette mechanism of unit #4 cannot be repaired – it needs new fly wheels – I decided to repair the other things.
One channel of the amplifier is not working I guess the TDA2030 might be broken. The CD was working in the beginning but does not work at the moment. I have problems to understand the CD mute circuit on the power supply panel. In most of my machines it is broken. It will take some time to get it back working.
I removed the tape mechanism because it does not make any sense to use it. To avoid any software issues with the original CPU I finished another CPU replacement to be able to control the CD drive. On unit #3 I had a lot of issues with the cables from the tape mechanism. Even fresh crimped the contact were broken. This time I decided to move the wires for the relays directly onto the panel. Of course I had to break the original wires but this can easily be changed back into its original state.
All the capacitors need to be replaced and I am still waiting for some backorders of Mouser.
btw. Unit #2 and #3 are playing so well. For the latter one I also changed the heatsink plate at the back. The machine is getting really hot inside and with the original heatsink the hot air cannot escape. More information will follow soon…
